Relocation Goods from the UK to Poland — no duty, no VAT, no stress
Moving from the UK to Poland? We check whether you qualify for duty and VAT relief, prepare your inventory of goods and the customs declaration — including for a car, motorcycle or motorhome.
When your belongings from the UK enter Poland free of duty and VAT
Relocation goods are personal belongings built up while living abroad and needed for everyday life: furniture, clothing, household appliances and electronics, bicycles, tools — as well as a car, motorcycle or trailer. Since Brexit, bringing goods from the UK into Poland counts as an import from outside the EU, but on relocation you're entitled to relief from duty and VAT if the statutory conditions are met.
Conditions that must all be met
- At least 12 months of residence outside the European Union (in the UK) before relocating.
- At least 6 months of owning and using the items before the change of residence — this applies to vehicles too.
- Bringing the goods in within 12 months of the date you moved your residence to Poland (this can happen in several batches).
- The goods serve the same purpose as in the UK — they can't be sold, rented out or given away for 12 months after relief is granted.
The relief doesn't cover everything. Alcohol, tobacco products, vehicles and equipment for professional use (other than a craftsman's portable tools) and commercial goods are excluded. New items bought "for the journey" also won't qualify as relocation goods — the 6-month period of use is counted from the date of purchase.
What we do as part of this service
As an experienced customs agency, we handle the documentation for people relocating belongings and vehicles from the UK to Poland.
- Full handling of customs documents — we prepare the complete documentation required by Polish customs authorities: the relief application, inventory of goods, declarations, power of attorney.
- Personalised advice — we advise on tax and customs matters so you can make use of the available relief and exemptions, including when some items don't meet the conditions.
- Stress-free clearance — we submit the declaration to the Polish customs and tax office and follow up on the relief, so you avoid unnecessary delays.
- Support with vehicle transport — we help prepare the documents so you can bring a vehicle in as relocation goods free of duty and VAT, then register it at the vehicle registration office.

A car as relocation goods. The vehicle must have been registered in your name in the UK for at least 6 months before the move. Once relief from duty and VAT is granted in Poland, it's also exempt from excise duty, provided you submit an AKC-US declaration claiming the exemption.
Relocating from the UK to Poland duty-free — step by step
- You send an enquiry — briefly: where from, where to, when, how (a removal company, your own van, a container) and whether you're bringing a vehicle.
- We check the conditions and documents — we verify the 12/6/12-month rule, tell you what's missing, and send you an inventory template.
- We prepare the declaration — the relief application, the customs declaration and, if the goods travel through France or Germany, T1 transit to the office in Poland.
- Clearance and documents for the future — once relief is granted, you get a full set: the decision, the declaration and the confirmations needed for vehicle registration and any future checks.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Can I bring my belongings over in several shipments?
Yes. The relief can be used across several batches within 12 months of the move, provided all the items appear on the inventory submitted with the first declaration.
I don't have invoices for furniture from years ago. What then?
The authority assesses the documentation as a whole. For used items, photos, bank statements and online orders help, and where those aren't available, a declaration can be used instead. What matters most is proof of UK residence and the date of the move; detailed invoices mainly matter for higher-value items and vehicles.
Do I need an EORI number?
A private individual bringing in relocation goods doesn't need an EORI number. We submit the declaration on your behalf under a power of attorney.
I'm bringing my belongings in my own van through France and Germany. Do I need a T1?
Usually yes — non-Union goods travelling through EU countries for clearance in Poland should be covered by a T1 transit opened in the NCTS system. An alternative is import clearance in the first EU country, but then the relief has to be settled there. We'll advise on what's simpler for your situation.
How much does it cost?
The price depends on the scope of work (the declaration alone, the declaration with transit, or a vehicle) — pricing is individual, via our contact form. Duty and VAT on correctly documented relocation goods come to zero.
