EORI Number in the United Kingdom — How to Get It and Why You Need It

The EORI number is the basic customs identifier — without it, no import or export declaration can be lodged. Since Brexit, Poland and the UK have had separate EORI systems. We explain when you need a UK EORI and how to get one.

When does a Polish company need a UK EORI number?

  • You sell on Amazon UK and your goods sit in FBA warehouses in the UK
  • You have a UK company and import goods into the UK under your own name
  • You trade on DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) terms — you're responsible for import clearance in the UK
  • You run a customs warehouse or bonded store in the UK

For most standard exports from Poland to the UK — your PL EORI is enough on the Polish side. The UK recipient sorts out their own UK EORI and import clearance.

What if I don't have a UK EORI but need to lodge a UK declaration?

You can use a UK customs agent as a direct or indirect representative. An indirect customs agent acts in its own name (under its own UK EORI) at your commercial risk — you can lodge an import declaration without your own UK EORI. This is standard practice for one-off imports into the UK.

The easyclearance.pl agency handles the full customs chain on both sides — from EORI to MRN.

Does an EORI number need to be renewed?

No — both the PL EORI and the UK EORI are valid indefinitely. They only lapse if the company is deregistered or the EORI is revoked by decision of the customs authority. If your address or company details change, update your data in the EORI register (PUESC or GOV.UK).
